Ram Nawami 2025 : Lord Shri Ram’s Glory Shines Through Postage Stamps Across India and the World

PATNA (RAJESH THAKUR): The glory of Lord Shri Ram is being spread across the country and the world through postage stamps as well. More than 20 countries, including India, have issued postage stamps from time to time featuring characters and narratives from the Ramayana. The essence of Ram Rajya is reflected even on these postage stamps.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, the Postmaster General of Gujarat, who is actively involved in various initiatives of the postal department, told ‘Mukhiyajee dot com’ on the occasion of Ram Navami that before the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released six special commemorative postage stamps dedicated to the ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple’ on January 18, 2024. These include stamps featuring the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple along with Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, Jatayu, Kevatraj, and Mata Shabari. Adorned with gold foil and infused with the fragrance of sandalwood, these stamps also depict the image of the Sun, the symbol of Suryavanshi Ram, alongside the holy Saryu River. The verse “Mangal Bhavan Amangal Haari, Dravau So Dasrath Ajir Bihari” is included, symbolizing prayers for the nation’s well-being.

He further explained that the printing of these stamps involved the use of Ayodhya’s sacred soil and the holy water of the Saryu River, connecting them to the philosophy of the five elements (Panch Mahabhoot). These stamps are available for sale at various head post offices and philately bureaus in GPOs. He also mentioned that earlier, on September 22, 2017, the postal department had released a set of 11 commemorative stamps depicting all significant episodes of the Ramayana. These were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Tulsi Manas Temple in Varanasi. The stamps feature captivating scenes such as Sita Swayamvar, Ram’s exile, Bharat Milap, the Kevat episode, Jatayu’s dialogue, Shabari’s dialogue, Hanuman-Sita conversation in Ashok Vatika, the construction of Ram Setu, Hanuman carrying Sanjeevani, the slaying of Ravana, and Lord Ram seated on the royal throne.
