Bihar’s Prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes History, Youngest IPL Debutant at 14

PATNA (XAIM) : Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old cricketing sensation from Bihar’s Tajpur village, has taken the cricketing world by storm. In the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), he debuted for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants at the tender age of 14 years and 23 days, becoming the youngest player ever to play in the IPL. This milestone is a matter of immense pride not only for Vaibhav but for the entire state of Bihar, as he becomes the first cricketer from Bihar to grace the IPL stage.

An Inspiring Journey
Hailing from a farmer’s family in Tajpur, Samastipur district, Vaibhav’s talent was nurtured by his father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, who built a small cricket ground behind their home to support his son’s practice. At just 12, Vaibhav made headlines by scoring nearly 400 runs in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He went on to break records as the youngest Indian to debut in Ranji Trophy (2023-24) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (2024-25).

In the 2024 IPL mega auction, Rajasthan Royals signed the 13-year-old prodigy for ₹1.1 crore, making him the youngest player ever to be picked in an IPL auction. During his debut match, Vaibhav smashed a six off his very first ball, showcasing his fearless batting style and announcing his arrival on the big stage.
